Since 1958

The Castleberry story

The Castleberry name has been in aviation since 1958. It started with a small instrument repair shop on the Texas coast, grew up in Austin, and today carries on in two companies in Show Low, Arizona.

  1. 1958

    Corpus Christi, Texas

Don Castleberry opens Aircraft Instrument Service, repairing instruments and autopilots for general aviation.

  2. 1975

    Austin, Texas

Five years after Hurricane Celia struck the Texas coast, the shop moves inland to Austin.

  3. 1986

    B.F. Goodrich

By now home to the AIM gyro line, Castleberry Instruments and Avionics joins B.F. Goodrich's aerospace business.

  4. 1997

    The Castleberry gyros

With AIM gyro production back in Austin, Castleberry develops its own 900 series electric gyros to replace most of the discontinued AIM 510 series.

  5. 2024

    Show Low, Arizona

The shop and its crew move to Arizona's White Mountains, where CIA carries on Castleberry instrument work, including the Castleberry gyros still flying.
